"My salvation story began in the summer of 1988. I didn't know at the time that the Holy Spirit was preparing my heart to receive salvation. Also didn't know at the time that it was also the Holy Spirit prompting me to join the United States Army. I can see now how it was all a part of His plan for me. The Army was the vehicle He used to get me to a place where I could be presented the whole Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After successfully completing basic training and advanced individual training, my first duty station was Tripler Army Medical Center AKA TAMC. The first couple of months being in a new place so far away from home was challenging. Then I met a fellow soldier and we dated for awhile, and then we got married. Not long after getting married I gave birth to our son. However, there was a longing in my heart like something was missing, but I didn't know what it was. Then one day my new husband came home and said a coworker had invited us to her church. I didn't even have to think about it, there was such a strong desire to accept her invitation. I didn't have anything to wear that I felt was appropriate for church. So, we went shopping for church clothes. The following Sunday we were prepared to go to church. It felt like everything was hindering us from getting to church. My husband was ready to give up and not go, but I said, "No we have to go!" I just felt deep inside we had to get to church. Finally, we made it to church and found his coworker. Even after all the setbacks we made it to church on time. Since we were in Hawaii, they welcomed us with a lei around our neck and the warmest welcome I had ever received. We listened to the message that was preached and they offered us the opportunity to make Jesus the Lord of our lives, we went up to the altar and made that commitment."
